Label: Arts & Crafts
Catalog#: A&C014
Released: October 5, 2005
Notes: The biggest of the new Canadian super groups, counting by either their fanbase or number of band members. This disc won the 2006 Juno for Best Alternative Album, as it deserved to. They were one of the regular bar/beer-hall bands through the city in my last university days, but I still call this Stac-e-mo (make of that what you will).
Label: Jagjaguwar
Catalog#: JAG098
Format: CD (also available on LP)
Country: Canada
Released: 11/21/06
Genre: Indie
Notes: Swan Lake is a collaberative effort by Daniel Bejar (Destroyer, New
Pornographers), Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown) and Carey
Mercer (Frog Eyes). Beast Moans, their debut album, was recorded in
a summer cottage town in Canada, and in Victoria. It was
"self-produced." While I don't like all of the tracks here I do think
this is a great Canadian album, and worth the listen, "A Venue Called Rubella" is easily the most catchy, likeable track here..
Label: Subpop
Bonus Disc (freebie on early Apologies orders directly from Subpop, tracks taken from Wolf Parade's earlier numbered EPs):
One of Stacy's favorite albums for her on her birthday.
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Give me your eyes
I need sunshine
Your blood, your bones, your voice, and your ghost
We've both been
A very brave
Walk around with both legs
Fight the scary day
We both pulled the tricks out of our sleeves
I'll believe in anything and
You'll believe in anything
Said
I'll believe in anything and
You'll believe in anything
If I could get the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd share a life and you'd share a life
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you and
Nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you and
Nobody gives a damn
And I could take another hit for you
And I could take away the trips from you
And I could take away the salt from your eyes
Take away skin and salt in you
And I could give you my apologies
By handing over my neologies
And I could take away your shaky knees
And I could give you all the olive trees
And look at the trees and look at my face and look at a place far away from here
...
If I could take the fire out from the wire
I'd take you where nobody knows you and
Nobody gives a damn
I said nobody knows you
And nobody gives a damn

Vox only allows me to add 12 items at once to a post, annoying.
With a line-up that includes Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom plus members of Mazzy Star and My Bloody Valentine, yeah, it's no wonder this has been getting heavy play in our home. A perfect lazy-sunday album. Hipster points for the limited edition with two bonus tracks, yup.
Vox has been refusing to take multiple file uploads for a couple days. Annoying.. :I
Perhaps I should try IE.. gah.
track 16 was a 26 mb m4a, but i converted it to mp3 [lossy-lossy transcoding is bad, yes, i know, suck it up]. anyways, for those keeping track of hipster points, this is the original pressing with 16 tracks (including the chicken-bacon sammich/kraft dinner hidden track.). keepin' it real, yo.. and yes, you're a little girl if your copy looks like this:
