Label: Independent, self-release
Catalog#: N/A
Year: 1996
Notes: This is sourced from cassette, no cd exists, so you'll have to excuse the quality (ReplyGain helps). Ultra-rare early Buck 65 mixtape bizness. Got the promo of Rich's forthcoming album today, so I thought I'd dig real deep into the archives for some lost beats and rhymes..
"There's nothing more life affirming than having the shit kicked out of you."
Canadian Content week in full effect, or something. Ahem. Anyways. This is my favorite disk from Buck 65. His more recent work is excellent and I enjoy it too, but this one in particular has always turned my ears, it's a very unique collection of samples and inparticular can-con resources at work here. And then there's the conceptulization: the simple and brilliant d'n'b stepline in the middle of Coleco Version (not to mention the cricket beatmatching in the close), the schizophrenic thought process and rhyme in Hats on Beds (the slow flares and other scratches @ 1:55-2:40 are just.. awwwwesome), or the beautiful lyrical dream of Secret Splendor/angry disapointment of Pants on Fire.
"i've got no patients left and as a physician or doctor, it puts me in an awkward position.
no magician can trick me, or lick me with a cattle whip,
so what makes you think you can sink my battleship?
nah, we ain't family, drama queen, the camera's rollin',
show me your swollen mammories before the moment's stolen.
slow-motion picasso, wearing the wool socks and coming with the full clip,
i'm sick of this bullshit."

The re-issue has one less track in number, but is nearly identical... something about a Metallica sample anyways.
